Marian Place House
The alteration and addition to an existing 1900s stone cottage in Prospect reimagines the home as a single-storey dwelling organised around an L-shaped open-plan living area, carefully oriented to maximise northern light.
The client brief called for flexibility to close off the lounge area, enabling a more intimate setting when desired. A custom-designed bookshelf divider, incorporating a large sliding panel and timber battens, allows the space to be enclosed while maintaining a seamless visual connection between adjoining living zones.
Kitchen joinery introduces muted blue tones, offering a cool counterpoint to the warmth of the vaulted limed plywood ceiling and expressed timber battens. These material gestures are grounded by a charcoal burnished concrete floor, providing a durable and cohesive base to the interior palette.
Located on Kaurna country.
