John Street Residence

This project involves the renovation and 2 storey extension of a 1900’s bluestone villa, located in Goodwood. The design embraces contrast and continuity—drawing from the dark, moody tones of the existing bluestone to inform a material palette of charred timber cladding, finely detailed metal window reveals, and black joinery elements used consistently throughout.

The new two-storey addition is deliberately sculptural. Folding ceiling planes evoke the delicate complexity of origami, adding dynamism and spatial interest to the interior experience. These architectural gestures not only respond to light and volume but also create a sense of movement and intimacy within the contemporary extension.
