Albert Street House
Situated on a prominent corner site overlooking a residential park in Goodwood, this two-storey new build was designed to maximise park views and capitalise on the advantages of its location.
The design responds sensitively to the streetscape through its considered use of form and materials. It maintains a single-storey appearance to Albert Street—the primary frontage—by selecting materials that are prevalent throughout the suburb, including recycled red brick and corrugated galvanised sheeting. These are offset with charcoal-toned modern detailing, ensuring the new addition complements rather than replicates the original character.
The gabled roof form references local architectural language, echoing the red brick institutional buildings in the area, such as the nearby library and the original Goodwood Technical College. A newly introduced pergola further reinforces this connection, reinterpreting the traditional verandah.
